While the weather is still so beautiful, I've been gardening and sprucing up our little houses' curb appeal. One project I've finally gotten around to is painting the front door and the shutters which I'll show you the B&A later. One fun project that I've done to help spruce up the entry is personalizing a plain doormat. I bought this at Wal-mart for just under 7.00, not too shabby, but it's just begging for a DIY project!
I love typography, as I know a lot of you do, so it seemed natural to do an E. I've been painting signs for my Etsy Shop, so I've got script on the brain anyway.
I used a standard glass plate to draw a circle in the middle of the mat for a couple different reason: 1.) To help me keep the size of the E in proportion 2). The circle keeps the E grounded
I free-handed the E using a marker and a ruler. You could also use a stencil if you don't feel comfy doing it free hand.
With regular acrylic craft paint and an artist brush, I filled in the E, and beefed up the circle.
It can't get any easier than that! Let it dry and it's ready to go!
This would be a fantastic house warming gift too!
I found some great 'junk' at Barnyard Days this past weekend...a big wooden drawer and a metal wheel thing. I stood the drawer up on end and sat a basket of fall leaves in it and sat a couple of pumpkins around too.
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you are inspired!
