DIY Poinsettia Placemat

Merry Christmas!!!

Has the Christmas bug bitten you yet? Well, if it has let me show you how to refurbish some old Christmas stuff!

If you're like me, you probably have gone through Christmas phases and like me, you have some old stuff you've just not had the heart to get rid of. My sister gave me these place mats years and years ago and I used them for a while...but the color is just not working for me now.

These happen to be the squishy vinyl kind of place mats. I used the back of the just in case I ever decide I like them again. The snowman is still there.
I bought these velvet poinsettias years ago, and really I just haven't really found the perfect use for them...until now that is!

(That is totally lint on them, not to be confused with dust ;)

First, cut off the leaves of the poinsettias.

Rip off the plastic veins underneath the leaf. This might seem hard but they ripped off really easy.

Next, sort out the sizes of the leaves, I did this so I could start from the biggest to the smallest

Whip out that ole' trusty glue gun and start gluing those babies down. Start from the rim (for lack of better word) of the place mat and let the leaves hang over slightly. Be sure to overlap a little too so the place mat doesn't show.

Just keep gluing, round and around and around

...and around

Finally, you reach the center of the place mat and you are done!! This project took me approximately 30 minutes to do, from start to finish.

I really LOVE this!! The velvet leaves are really great and I hope you can see all the texture!

I would really recommend this project. The results are really satisfying! I bought absolutely nothing, but ended up with something I will use time and again.

What do you think? I bet you have some old Christmas stuff you can revamp today!

I really love this time of year!

Merry Christmas!

And happy decorating!

Thanks for stopping in to visit me! I love it when you do! I hope you're inspired!
